Blood Angels Rhinos

Shameless show-off post. These are my Blood Angels Rhinos. I've got four rhinos in this army but only three are the traditonal red. I love the current rules for these Rhinos. For those that aren't familiar, Blood Angels have over-charged engines that can make the things fast. On a roll of a d6, 1 means they can't move that turn, 2-3 means they move normally and 4+ means they move fast! The rules adda bit of uncertainty which I love when I'm playing. It means you've got to adapt not only to what your opponent does, but also to what your army won't do!

I hope my regular readers don't me taking a temporary divergence from the Tau for a little while. I've been playing Blood Angels more lately as I've just missed close-combat.

These were base-coated with Vallejo Carmine Red, washed with Badab Black and then drybrushed with Carmine Red again, and then GW Blazing Orange. I then took Mithril Silver and painted on the paint-chipping. Scrotched Brown and Bubonic Brown were dry-brushed on for mud around the tracks of the model. Vallejo Carmine Red is a great alternative to GW's Blood Red. It's about the same color but its much more opaque and it doesn't have a glossy finish.

Don't worry guys, I'll have some Tau stuff up soon. Next Tuesday is another Combat Patrol Tournament this time were only allowed infantry, no vehicles. I'm coming up with a list that has Kroot, Fire Warriors, Stealth Suits and Sniper Drones. Should be fun to bring them out for targeting practice.

Very nice.

I see the inside of the tracks were left unpainted... Just picking on ya. :P

I really like the character they have, it can be a hard thing to accomplish with Rhino's. Mine for example are a complete bore compared to yours. ;)

Sniper drones - nice call! Hope they work out for you.

I don't know if it is because they are almost the polar opposite of the Tau mentality and mode of operation, but I have a strong desire to field a Blood Angel army and have had for a while now. So keep it coming.

I always wanted an all jumppack army, and it will be interesting to see how the new codex deals with that.

Great stuff OSH your BA army will probably get you even more best painted if you keep this level up through the entire army :)!

Cheers CJ

Very nice. I like the weathering effects you have done. They are not overdone, which is really important.

You should check out some of my Blood Angels stuff, especially the banner I just did.

@Gothmog, saw your chapter banner the other day. it's really awesome. There seems to be a build of enthusiasm for Blood Angels with the codex on the horizon.

@Sholto, It's funny, although the Blood Angels are completely different from Tau in almost every way, I keep using tactics I learned my Tau! Focusing fire, manipulating movement, reserves.

@CJ, thanks for the complement. Thats the plan anyway...

Hey OSH, ever thought about starting a Blood Angels blog?

I can easily get you 1st or 2nd in Google for the search 'blood angels'. I did offer the assist to Jawa Balls, but he didn't bother to reply :(

@Adam, woah how's that done? I'd be interested. They're a cool chapter of space marines. Their fluff is, I think, the best.

Nice Rhinos. I loved the freehand on the one at the tourney. I'm making a Warmachine Blog to keep it separate from the 40K blog. I think doing a BA blog is where it's at man. Go for it!

It looked like Kren was on the top of one of your rhinos.
