Although Tau of War is somewhat intended to be a Tau-specific blog, I don't have to write about Tau this week. I haven't been playing lots of games with them nor have I discover any cool new tactics. However, a lot is about to happen in the world of 40k. First off, Dark Eldar are almost here and I've decided I am going to collecting them. What I'd like to do is finish painting all the Blood Angels I've got then move on to Dark Eldar. It's not that I am an army-of-the-month painter, it's that I really haven't gotten that excited about the new Blood Angels Codex and I am playing less games with them than I did with the old PDF version.
The Dark Eldar are beautiful and I can't wait for the chance to field an army that is fast and highly skilled, yet folds like a deck of cards in a war of attrition.
But there is one army I have to do before moving to the Dark Side, I'm going to stepping back in time to the year 30,000 and the days of the Horus Heresy. I'm going to visiting the planet of Prospero and building a small elite force of Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons. Below you can see the modest beginnings of this new project.
What I am looking for is inspiration. Readers, if you can help me, I'm looking for some great online resources about the Thousand Sons. I've googled it to no end and discovered some real gems out there but I wonder if any of you out there know any great links to Thousand Sons projects that I could use to help form the vision of this army. I'm looking for great project logs on forums, good tutorials, or even ideas like what you all think would be cool and what bits from the various ranges would work in making loyalist Thousand Sons Sorcerers and Soldiers.
Obviously Forge-world now has some great kits for Pre-Heresy Marines and you can bet I'll be getting some of those. What about the Fantasy range? Anything I need to see from there to incorporate into my conversions. Any independent sculptors out there that are making great bits? Whatever you guys suggest would be great to making this project and really cool unique army.

Your projects are always so intriguing...I remembered this guys Thousand Sons terminators immediately when you said something about need inspiration. The funny part is you're already following his blog, so you've probably seen it before.
Khepri's Eternal Legion
My advice is to read "A Thousand Sons" if you havn't already. There are dozens of little gems in there about the armor of Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons. As for fantasy I'd look at trying to get some Tomb Kings bits.
I would second Auz2010, definitely read the heresy book the thousand sons. and even prospero burns might have something to say about the 1K sons too.
I recommend checking this out, it was on BoLS awhile back and led me to another blog for awhile http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2010/04/40k-hobby-making-pre-heresy-thousand.html

Here's a link you might enjoy. Very old school and all that. I don't know if you already read his blog or not, but if not you've might just have found a treat:)
@Flekkzo that link was great. My new resource for pre-heresy marines! Thanks!

for all your pre and during Heresy wants;)
Check out the Imperial Fist link, I was quite impressed. In fact, many of those links are amazing and the blog itself has a lot of awesome stuff too:)
Good luck with your thousand sons:)
Maybe you should take some of the CSM Thousand Sons heads, and then put them on some converted marine bodies. Pretty obvious, I know, it probably wasn't much help.
sorry for being late to the party but yeah my friend over at http://thefortressmonastery.blogspot.com/ made a whole preheresy thousand sons army. he hasn't updated his blog in forever but there are some tutorials and stuff on there otherwise check his youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/KeeperoftheFortress).
one of the best kits to use to make the sons is probably the tomb king's chariot. the fronts of the chariots make pretty great shoulder pads for termies and just try to get as many khopeshes on them as you can.
good luck =)
Here's some parts that may help, http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=910 Theres others if you look around for the egyptian parts. Good luck
