And now for something completely different...

"The chorus of battle shall be our last rites, my brothers; the engines of war roaring, the skies clouded with spewing smoke, the screams of wounded enemies, and the iron-taste of blood on our lips. Tis better to die in battle, comrades, than live a hundred years in agony, ONWARD BLOOD ANGELS TO VICTORY AND DEATH!"

Some of you may know that my side army is the Blood Angels. Back in 1995, my brother started a BA army and never quite finished it. Last year I took it up as a side project and have been slowly building and painting it since. I've tried to make up for the horribly over-costed codex by fitting in as many free rhinos and death company as possible, as per Jawaball's list suggestions on his blog. I'm sure you know of Jawaballs, but if not you find his blog by clicking the link to the right under Wisdom and Inspiration. My army differs slightly from his, but it takes a lot of inspiration from his posts and tactics. Here is just a couple shots of my latest completed project, the Death Company Rhino. As you can see, Jawaballs also inspired me to try out freehand work on this puppy. Enjoy!

I've got a Rhino spare... must resist the urge to paint it up like that!

Seriously awesome work on that by the way, it looks fantastic!

The freehand skull on top is pretty freakin' sweet. I've got a soft spot for Blood Angels, since they were my starting Codex. It's not perfect, but it's got enough pizzazz here and there to have some oomph.

I mean, who else can make a whole army of jump-pack maniacs?

OSH, how're you doing with your Rhino death company? Are they significantly better than the jump pack ones, or is it a case of certain tools for certain jobs. I'm very tempted to paint up my Vanguard Vet's up as a Veteran Assault squad rather than Death Company, but I'm not sure.

That is some excellent freehanding work. I also like the weathering along the bottom edges. Nicely done, sir!

Thanks for all the comments, guys!

@Gavin, believe it or not...I wouldn't know, I've only played them in a rhino ONCE. but they did fine.I've just finished this rhino and I've got a personal rule never to field a unit that isn't painted...so you'll have to ask Jawaballs, whose got wayt more experience.

DC in Rhino every time. They are a target. The Rhino gives them an extra bit of life. Without it, they are a magnet for every heavy bolter on the table. Now, I almost always get them into the fight.

Oh and great job man! :)

Great work on the Rhino, have you gotten a Space Hulk boxset yet? Lots of nice looking Terminators in there prefect for a new BA Force.

CylonDave, I am trying my best to resist the urge to purchase the space hulk set. I just have too many projects going on right now...GW makes self-restraint very difficult with models like that!!!

I love all the details put into this. The banners on the sides really make it stand apart from the norm.

Very nice OSH. I'm also going to run my DC in a special DC Rhino. I even bought the Forge World parts to make it extra awesome. I'd get the extra armor plating as well, but getting that on every Rhino would get expensive, haha. I'm also going to do some heavy mods to make it look more ornate, since this is my spearhead and I want to draw all those guns on my free, 3 man unit haha.

"Go ahead, shoot at the big scary black Rhino, and ignore my ASM and Baal Preds rolling in behind." Mwhahaha!

The first I fielded this, I set it up to ram it down my enemies throat. I got all excited and used over changed engines-lo and behold, I rolled a ONE!

Blood angels rhinos are kind of like orks in that regard, it might work great when it does work but it is prone to spectacular failures!
