Secrets of the Fio'la: More Battlesuit Conversions

With production in full swing for my next XV8 squad, I've made some great progress on some new conversion bits. First off here is the prototype model with Missile Pods and a Burst Cannon looking-thing. My thinking with this conversion is that the main weapon could be used to represent a Burst Cannon, Cyclic Ion Blaster or a Plasma Rifle. So if I do not like the Fire Storm load out after all, I can switch it back to Fire Knife or some more tried and tested configuration. Magnetizing is an option, but for some reason I am not a fan.

The arm-mounted assault weapon is made from a Plasma Rifle, a Space Marine Assault Cannon and a bit from a Necron Gauss Rifle. I really wanted to make it look like sone of the Alien weapons from the Film District 9 but I am not sure that I caught that level of detail and coolness.

My work on the Missile pod was inspired by my Old Shatter Hands Conversion but this time I wanted to use a Tau missile rack. Now it looks as if the missiles are aimed and targeted by a separate system, leaving the pilot to fire both weapons without losing focus and accuracy.

I still have some flash to remove and I might tighten it up a bit here and there. Work has started on the second suit of this configuration.

I am. But most of these little conversions were inspired from the Tau master: Shas'El Tael, who came up with the helmet design. Check out his website its in my links section (Wisdom and Inspiration)

Great work OSH. I see the Tael influence here but I think you've made it your own quite nicely. I don't think it would be a stretch for any opponent to consider that funky weapon to be a CIB, burst cannon or even plasma cannon so no worries there. I too would love to make some of the groovy parts from District 9. That film was very cool.

I think everyonw who's seen tael's stuff is inspired by it and at least steals an idea or two. You're battle suit conversions always look great, and I love shatter hands.
I myself decided to use Taels Scheme, and so far my miniatures have turned out picture perfect, But every time i check out your blog, I feel a crazy urge to abandon his scheme and just steal/modify yours!
It looks fantastic on the table top, and I know it must take less time to paint (at least he infantry, than Taels)

The fingers on the right hand, where do they come from? Tiny details like that really make the model.

Fingers on the right hand come from the old plastic space marine powerfist. Thanks for all the compliments guys. More to come later in the week. Just got done with a twin-linked flamer.
