GW's answer to Infinity?

I spent a lot of time cruising through the Infinity the Game forums and I see a lot of models that have Tau parts on bases and such. There's also tons of comments from players who seem to be former 40k players and a lot of them Tau players.

It's got me thinking...are the Tau releases an attempt by GW to claim back some of its lost market share from Infinity?

Could be. I know the release has got me distracted from Infinity...

I think Tau might have been out before infinity. At least before infinity came to the US and grew to be a more popular game.

Tau release is inevitable, every codex eventually gets a release and update, it was just taus turn I think.

Now obviously, tau are in more direct competition with games like infinity given their aesthetic style.

I doubt Kirby & Co. are even aware of Infinity or CB. This abundance of GW releases is due to fears about how the Chapterhouse litigation may play out or to inflate earnings to pump up stock so Kirby can cash out. But, the bright side is one of the most original races (ie not simply a WHFB race in space) finally gets some shiny newness. That is a good thing.

There are quite a few WM/H players in the Infinity forum too. And it seems few people who don't play at all.
