First Japanese Sectorial Army models painted!

If you ask me, these K. Butais are some of the coolest line troop models of the Infinity range. They have style, they're one piece models (I love those) and they have lots of angry character. The bald guy is my favorite.

I still need to add details to the base. Any suggestions? I have grass tussocks, barbed wire, other random bits...

This chick is armed with an attached Light Grenade Launcher. I love these things. Nothing like surprising your enemy with a well-placed speculative shot at a guy who thinks he's safe hiding behind a corner.

The shading on the bald guys face is fantastic. Really great work

Thanks, John. My phone camera probably makes it lokk better than it is, but I am proud of them. BTW, you've been doing great work on your ultra marines and terrain...seriously
Very good work.

Feels like if you look away for just a second they'll all pivot and unload some combi-rifle fire before taking cover. Really captures the animation!

Very nice, I wish my infinity guys looked that good.

Awesome work Tim. I agree with John re. the shading.

Are the really stark lines there to give the NMM effect? I have tried a bit of stark line highlighting but always feel that it looks silly or too bright. In the end I tend to smooth the blends more and I think I may lose some pop because of the lack of definition. They look flat until you look closely.

That said, yours are really bright but work excellently. Is there a particular trick to it?

I'll be posting some pics of my Eldar Jetbikes tomorrow to show you what I mean about my painting.

All the best

Pete :-)

They really do 'pop'! Really like the understated cloth but more extreme highlighting on weapons and equipment.

Well done!

Looks amazing! Can't wait to have the cunning down my military orders :-D

The stark contrasts are there to make the material seems shiny...so yeah, its for NMM effects. The key is to make sure the lines are thin enough to be convincing. You also have to think about where they should be, and use them sparingly. I think it works for stuff like Dark Eldar...give it a try buy use restraint.

Very nice work Tim and I am glad to see you painting some Infinity mins :) I love the pants colour and the flesh on the faces look perfect. What's next to paint?
