Infinity Tiger Soldier

My latest Infinity model, the Tiger Soldier. He was finished a couple weeks ago in fact, but I haven't had the time to post him here.

I've started to use inks again. Lately I have been unsatisfied with the results I've been getting from GW washes, and although, I used them here, I've found that ink provide for a more intense and controllable shading technique.

This miniature is probably the least favorite in my Infinity collection, but I wanted to paint him because he is very valuable to me in the game. He's got a high Ballistic Skill and mimetism which helps keep him alive. With Airborne Deployment Level 3, he's a master of the ambush, dropping from the skies to flank units, or attack isolated targets.

Enjoy!

Great looking paint job. I think it's a testimony to the Corvus belli miniatures (and your painting skill of course) that this is your 'least' favourite Infinity mini!

Wow, Nice paint job on the model(as usual).

I think he looks good, what brand of inks are you using?

Liking the orange work up :)

A tiger indeed! :D

Very nice as alway. While the Tigers do look a little dated I'm still mostly ok with them. Particularly I quite like the pose of this model. How come you painted this and not the HGM one? He's been the MVP in so many of my games! Hehe!

Just finished my Aragoto and I feel there will be a lot more Infinity getting painted in the near future.

That's a really nice paint job with some great richness in the armour colours.

What kind of inks do you use to get your shading and tones done? I'm drifting away from GW offerings too and I've considered some of the P3 inks, though haven't tried them yet.

Martin, the version armed with the HMG certainly is a better choice but I made a huge mistake on priming him and ruined the model temporarily and haven't fixed him yet. Someday I'll get to him. For my Adepticon list, my SWC is fully booked by a hacker, Shang-JI with Spitfire.

Pete and Muskie, I'm using the only citadel inks in fact. Mine still have not dried out. I used balck ink, chesnut ink and a real old one rust brown. They were used in a more controlled way than washing. I actually carefully brushed them on to the areas I wanted, and blended them with a brush. The GW washes are great for some painters because you don't have to be so careful, you can blast the area with wash and it'll fall into the recesses natural. However, I find the color isn't as intense as you get with inks and when you're trying to control their application, they're more difficult. Yet neither system is better than the other, just depends on the painter.

The combi rifle Tiger is your least favorite? Really? I LOVE this model. I've got two of him (don't remember how, but managed to snag just the combi model somewhere along the line), in fact. He's not as cool as the original SAS, but he's definitely one of my favorite sculpts in Yu Jing, especially prior to the Japanese stuff.

I like the strips on the shoulder pads. I still have my second one to paint, and the one with the HMG, so I think I'll borrow that idea, and go back and add it to my first one.

Whether you like this model or not, you did a great job on him.

Hey shatterhands, it's brokbrok. I asked you for tau advice waaaay back in the day, shortly after the birth of the 40knation forums. I recently took my infantry blood angels to Broadside Bash and did pretty well. Placed ninth in painting and was best overall blood angel player! I'm stoked since it was my first tournament ever.
Anyway, now that it's over, I'm itching all over to revive my tau army. The forgeworld updates on the tetra, sensor tower, and drone turret have me really excited about new builds since they open up the fast attack and reinforce the troops section. I was hoping to come to your blog and find some wisdom bits regarding them if you had checked them out.
Lastly, I see you've gotten into Infinity as well. I'm working for the JSA to take you down.

hey Drath,

I saw that on your blog. Not sure what it means...seems like they include TAu models in lots of 40k Codices, White Dwarfs, etc. But it would be awesome if they were the next codex. I'm just not expecting that.

Hello!

I've been following your blog for a little while, mostly due to the discovery of the Tau Guide on here, but I've also seen your other work which is no less amazing!

I was wondering if you have an e-mail address that I could use to talk to you about a couple of things related to what you are posting on this blog, if you don't mind of course.

Cheers,

Ludovic
