Well, I think it's possible to convert the model to give it a probably sized head. Every Tau player should have plenty of sensor/antenna bits to fix the problem.

I actually quite like the riptide suit. The small head doesn't bother me at all, I mean, its still probably a single pilot suit, and so to make the head larger would be unnecessary

I like the riptide too, but that head has got to go. Paulson, make us a larger head!

I'm undecided on the tiny head at the moment, although I'm leaning toward thinking it'll need fixing. I view that as a good thing though - I like to get in some conversion on every model if I can, and as everything else on the riptide is already exactly as I'd like it to look it's good to have something that I'd want to change.

I suppose it must suck for people who are less competent at converting if they're not happy with the way a model looks by default (e.g. all those wailing at the appearance of the new flyer), but then I guess they should view it as an opportunity to learn new skills. Personally I find converting to be the most enjoyable part of building a model!

Basically the head carries the same functionality as a crisis head. Why build a bigger obsolete head if there are no improvements? Thats my thinking. Of course you'd use the same tech.

I can certainly see your point about utility...but it looks silly. Really silly.

GW has this thing about proportions. Dreadnought - short legs. Spaces Marines - short legs. Cadians - big heads, short legs. Orks - broken backs. Riptide - tiny head.

Well, I have to say that I want a miniature of the second photo! That's just awesome! LOL It looks like one of the warhammer fantasy giants. LOL I can't laugh enough looking at the shrunken head.

I would like to add one practical thought on the minihead. If you can do it, it makes good sense to make your all important sensor array as small a target to hit as possible, but at the same time, you can apply that axiom to the size of the entire suit. You would have a hard time missing it if you were blind folded and shooting in the general direction.

the head makes sense to me, i mean, even the space marines were gen. altered to have tiny heads, so its harder to pew-pew them. why should you make the sensor-array/ cameras bearing head any bigger than neccesary? What bother me are his feet. they look so dance-hoof like. even if he shall eb jumping like the crisis they are inappropirate :/

Sure the head makes sense, but this is not a real robot...it's a model and aesthetics are the main concern for me. Small heads on big bodies looks dumb. Ah well, at least you guys like the model. I like it less everyday...yep, just because of the head.

I also fear that the broadsides are going to look silly.

I'm reserving judgement until I see it in the fle...in the plastic, but yes, not keen on the big head. Also not sure I'd use such a unit - I run three crisis squads for mobility, and a Dreadknight-style suit would only be a bullet magnet and die fast. We'll see once the new codex decloaks.
